A new guesthouse was recently opened in Sauðarkrókur in Skagafjörður, north Iceland. The unique thing about this guesthouse is that the owner, Árni Hafstað owns the Gæðingur brewery and at the guesthouse you'll find a micro bar offering Gæðingur beer as well as a hundred other varieties of bottled beer.

Hafstað also owns the Micro Bar situated in Austurstræti in central Reykjavik but the new venue in Skagafjörður offers a more quaint cosy setting with a backgarden. The guesthouse is situated in the same building, a beautiful traditional Icelandic house dating from 1896. The guesthouse offers five rooms for two people. "It's small and cute," explains Hafstað and adds laughing that it's so small that all the guests have to get along.

Gæðingur brewery offers a number of craft beers, including an IPA, a white ale, a lager and a red ale. The bottle's logo was designed by Icelandic cartoonist Hugleikur Dagsson and features a rider on a horse, referring to Skagafjörður's reputation as the best horse breeding county in Iceland.

Anyone interested in visiting the Gæðingur brewery, located in a picturesque farm, can contact Hafstað who is happy to show visitors around for beer tasting and a  bit of beer history for a modest fee.
