Delta offers more flights to Iceland from JFK, adds Minneapolis

Delta Air Lines are marking five years of consecutive service between Iceland and the United States with an extended season and additional frequency during the peak summer months.

The U.S. airline will begin its daily seasonal nonstop service between Keflavik International Airport and New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport on February 12. An eighth frequency will then be added on May 29, offering two flights on Sundays for more than three months. All flights will be operated using Boeing 757-200 aircraft.

The New York service will be followed by the launch of a new flight from Keflavik to Minneapolis/St Paul on May 27, 2016 – the first time Delta has operated this route. Once this service starts, Delta will provide 15 weekly flights from Iceland to the United States, all operated in conjunction with Air France KLM.

“With Iceland becoming an increasingly popular destination for U.S. travellers, we are adding more flights in 2016 to meet demand, increasing capacity by 101% percent versus 2015,” said Nat Pieper, Delta’s SVP-EMEA. “We’re also very pleased to be marking our fifth anniversary by adding a new destination, offering even more choice for travel between our nations.”
