Reykjavik is the third happiest city in Europe, according to Business Insider UK. This is based on European Commission data on locals’ perceptions of the life they lead.

The survey gauges people’s satisfaction with their home city in such areas as environment, infrastructure, employment and social issues. Business Insider UK has taken the data and ranked the nineteen cities where people are “very satisfied with the life they lead”.

Icelandic capital Reykjavik takes third place in this impressive list, beaten by just two cities in Denmark.

“Reykjavik – 66% very satisfied, 31% satisfied. People living in the capital of Iceland, and the only large city on the whole island, get to take advantage of beautiful scenery on all sides, and an incredibly safe, quiet city. This reflects in the city's bronze medal position on our list,” reads the article.
