Fatal car crash in Iceland's Hvalfjörður tunnel

A very serious car accident occurred in the a road tunnel under the Hvalfjörður fjord yesterday when a jeep and a car collided. One person died in the accident and three people are in critical condition at the National University Hospital.
The fourth person is undergoing medical examinations but is not in a critical condition.
All of the people involved in the crash were Icelandic.
The National Coastguard helicopter was called to the scene of the accident and five ambulances.
The tunnel was closed for a duration of three hours because of the accident. The driver of the jeep lost control of his vehicle which skidded to the other side of the road, colliding head-on with the car.
