Reykjavik's pools could close due to the frost

Hot geothermal water consumption in Reykjavik is at an all time maximum due to locals turning up their radiators in the cold. The frost will continue over the next few days which means that Veitur, Reykjavik Energy, may have to close the city's swimming pools to save hot water.
Reykjavik Energy sent out announcements yesterday to urge people to be economical with their hot water use. Around 90 % of the hot water is used to heat up buildings and homes in the city. "People can save hot water by keeping windows and doors shut and not covering radiators with furniture or heavy curtains. Please also refrain from using hot tubs."
