A group of investors, residing in Monaco, is preparing the development of a hotel village by Heyklif in Stöðvarfjörður fjord, East Iceland, Morgunblaðið reports. The land is registered in the ownership of CityLab ehf. Alexander Efanov, the company’s owner and the project’s CEO, describes the village as cabins for the fastidious, which will fit well in the landscape. Plans are for a 40-room four-star hotel to be built, as well as 10-15 cabins. Computer-generated images of the project suggest an avant-garde design.

Alexander, who is himself an architect, estimates that the first part of the project will open in 2020. Construction of the prefabricated units will be done in phases. Cost estimates are not available, he reports.

The project is done in cooperation, among others, with the consulting firm Beki, which has worked on the construction of hotels by Jökulsárlón glacial lagoon and by Mývatn lake. Alexander states that the emphasis will be on giving guests the opportunity to experience being alone in nature, with the aim of having people stay for several days, surrounded by a stunning landscape.
