Man Escapes Cabin Fire at Þingvellir
A cabin on the east side of Þingvallavatn lake, near Þingvellir National Park, was destroyed by fire last night. No one was injured. The fire was reported at 7:20 pm by a man who had just escaped it. The cabin was in flames when firefighters from Selfoss and Laugarvatn arrived on the scene.
Large explosions were reported, which are thought to have been propane tanks exploding.
The fire spread to nearby vegetation, but firefighters succeeded in preventing it from spreading to nearby cabins. At least 20 people took part in fighting the fire, the source of which is unknown.
