A bus caught fire in a split second while traveling on Airport Road in Reykjanesbær. The call came in about half past two and about half an hour later the fire was extinguished.

According to the South Fire Service, one passenger was on the bus at the time of the fire, but the passenger, along with the bus driver, got off the bus with ease. The bus driver had noticed the fire and turned off the road into a gravel plane.

According to one watchman of the Fire brigade, the fire occurred in the engine room and the bus was almost completely engulfed when the fire department arrived. Two windows were blown out, but foam was used to extinguish the fire.
