45% of Icelanders in favour of a new public transport system in Reykjavik

According to a new survey by marketing company Maskína, 45 percent of Icelanders are in favour of Borgarlínan, a proposed bus rapid transit and later, light rail in Reykjavik. 28 percent of respondents are against and 27 percent undecided moderately in favour.
Support for Borgarlínan seems to depend very much on which political parties people support, with most of the support coming from people that vote Left Green, Social Democratic Alliance, Pirate Party and Reform Party and less support from those who vote for the Independence Party, the Progressive Party and the Middle Party.
Borgarlína is a network that's been in planning stages since 2015 and involves upgrading existing road infrastructure to include long stretches of separated public transport lanes. Parts of the network could later be upgraded to a light rail system.
Most people in favour of Borgarlína are people living in the city centre, Seltjarnarnes and Vesturbær, younger people and women.
Most people against the system are aged 50 - 59. Support for Borgarlinan has gone down slightly since the last survey was conducted.
