Four MP's from the Centre Party have released a statement of apology regarding a recording made public today in which they made derogatory comments about women MP's.

The press statement says: "We four MP's of the Middle Party who sat at Klaustur hotel bar last week would like to apologize to all those we made insensitive remarks about in a private conversation. It was not our intention to hurt anyone and it's clear that our manner of speaking at that time is inexcusable. We are determined to learn from this and will try our utmost to be polite and respectful to our colleagues. We also would like to apologize to other members of the Middle Party and to our families to have behaved in this manner."

The statement is signed by
